  • High speed adc-dac boards

with my search for information I found interesting links and docs:

several options, more or less expensives.....

1- HIGH SPEED ADC boards: from $100.
    Link: http://www.embeddedarm.com/products/...oduct=TS-ADC24

Anyone can say if this card is a good one for PI metal detector?

2- FPGA + HIGH SPEED ADC/DAC : more expensive --- Anyone write code?

    Up to soon

The adc resolution on that board is is low at 12 bits, To attempt a pi detector you would need at least 16, 18 bits would be better... The internal Sample/Hold specs are also very important for pi's as well as the input bandwidth/impedance.

Having built several FPGA based pi detectors I would say that the power is sweet but vhdl/verlog is extremely slow to write / perfect code for and you'll waste piles of time there alone, A good multi core DSP like the XMOS processors will do everything an FPGA will do and be much easier to program and lots more flexible...

    just my 2 cents worth
