Google it. People in the UK are going potty about this at the moment. Biggest problem is
getting hold of one. Sold out.Worse than getting the latest Apple gismo
I took a look at Broadcom's BCM2835 and have mixed feelings about this processor (the chip that powers the Raspberry Pi).
Don't get me wrong, it's a 700Mhz dual core, with one core devoted to video processing (hardware H.264 support, otherwise decoding is done through software) and a GPU for 2D/3D acceleration. It also has hardware support for PCM audio.
However, in the way of peripherals, it's pretty bare bones. No ADCs, DACs, Multiple timers or flexible PWMs.
This processor is geared more towards multimedia. It has lots of memory (256M), storage (SD card) and USB. Very powerful, but not particular useful unless paired with additional hardware. Then again, the same can be said about just any other processor. In many ways, it leaves a lot to desire.
Too bad I could not find the chip in stock anywhere.
