  • Older Bounty Hunter Coil

I am working on an older Bounty Hunter 900. The receive coil has a center tap to ground and either side of the coil is selected to get the proper phase for G.B or Disc. The side with the red wire checks around a 125 ohms to ground as I would suspect but the side with the black wire checks 5k ohms to ground. I opened the coil and it appears there is a series 100 ohm resistor on each side and also a trimmer pot on each side that appears to be in series. I drilled through the epoxy and measured across both pots and the 5k appears across one of the pots while the other is in the hundreds range. Surely the resistance should be around 100 ohms on both. They are both covered in epoxy and my guess is the high reading pot has a poor contact. Any one out there with a good coil or knowledge who can verify these should both read about the same.
