They probably meant EPE January 1995. There's a magnetometer in that issue.

EPE magazine includes the Andy's Flind magnetic field meter. With this schematic will be easy to decrypt the Cryfton:lol:

Although I read somewhere that the January 1995 issue contained a magnetometer project, it appears that it was actually a Magnetic Field Detector.
Here's a very useful index (download the .exe) ->

Select "Search by Year" and enter "January" and "1995" in the search fields.

And ... there were 11 metal detector projects between 1994 and 2004.

Also ... try searching for "magnet", with some interesting results.
