I heard many stories like this, especially at Philipines. But it is not so easy!!!
First models of Mineoro DCH-85 had an radio extra inside the box but at FM range not at AM, and it was tuned near to 80Mhz.

This is like my lrl where the input resonance is in the FM range and Esteban said that a FM receiver that is not tuned to broadcasts could act as a lrl. In some way the phenomenon emits a signal in the FM range or a harmonic fall into this range.

Yes radio am sens phenom but not any am radio , a little change in ferrite coil and cap variable give better result
