I don´t think this will work: there is no AC voltage to be rectified, and the leak of the diodes will probably suck all the voltage build-up.
But i rmemeber on circuit that must work:a long wire grounded via a spark plug to the secundary of an an ignition coil. From the primary you take ac voltage .
The voltage raising ecentually produced a spark, wich produced ac HV transformed to AC Low voltage.
This should work anywhere but the problem is putting a long wire with enought height.

For Ivconic it could work, he says there is no wind twhere he lives so maybe hydrogen baloon ?.(Hydrogen is easy to produce )

As there are fluctuations in atmosphera, so the diodes are used for to rectify this. Of course you must to try for to be sure...

In some part also see an alkaline battery charger with it. Of course, slow... but free.

I don´t think there is enougth fluctuation to reverse voltage and ground become positive (or negative) in relation to the wire.
But as you say it must be tried
