March 24 marked the 10th Anniversary of the Geotech forums. Thanks to everyone who has participated over the years!

I wanted to kick off this contest on the anniversary date but was traveling then, and got busy since. But now it's time! Here are the rules:
    • Every post counts as 1 point.
    • Every new thread-start counts as 2 extra points (3 total).
    • Posts such as "Attaboy!" and "Thanks!" will not count.
    • You must be a registered user and post under your own ID. If you accidentally (or intentionally) post as unregistered I cannot count those posts.
    • Points will be totaled from March 24 through July 24.
    • Points count as "entries" to a final drawing. If you end up with 50 points, you will have 50 entries into the drawing.
    • I will physically print all entries onto small slips of paper using your ID number. If you have 50 entries then you will get 50 slips of paper. I will then put them all in a box and have an independent person draw a paper slip. Winner!
What do you win? A t-shirt? A certificate suitable for framing? Heck no, how about...

Your choice of a White's TDI Pulse Induction detector or a White's Spectra V3 detector !

Final rule: winner must agree to allow actual name to be used in the winner announcement.

        Hi Robert,

Thanks for reminding me. I have extracted the statistics I need and am now making numbered paper slips to do a drawing. This is slow because I thought it would be more automated, but I am having to do everything manually.

There are 290 contestants with a total number of posts of 6551 (and that's how many slips of paper there will be). Everyone is assigned a number so, for example, '1843' is #1 and will get 33 slips with that number on it since he had 33 posts. I'll put all the slips in a bucket and have the granddaughter of a co-worker draw a slip. Hopefully this next week.

        - Carl

          Thanks for the update, Carl.
It is good to know all the 290 contestants have a shot, even when it is weighted toward the frequent posters.
The prize is outstanding. I think anyone would be happy to win a White's TDI PI or a Spectra V3!

          Best wishes,
          J_P

            Uh! To much hard labour!
As E.E. and pretty conversant expert; could'nt you contrived more advanced way to draw? For example small code to search forum members database and by given conditions to pull out the winner (Excell can do the job just fine)...or few finalists? 10 minutes job!
By present method you will torture yourself much! You will worn 20 pair of scissors until cut all the slips!
6551 slips! Wow! Once you cut all the slips - you'll deserve first prize also, for such hard labour!
            Best Regards!

Maybe he meant you deserve to win... an LRL!

You know... he is skinflint at words...

                  Maybe not only...

I guess he suffer also from severe years standing constipation...

maybe sunsweet plums have only one effect on him... constipate more!

If you have to demolish a building you know who's right for... just first add napalm and 7-up and pepsi and let him drink a 40gallons drum... the CO2 pressure will do the rest!

Save his life and you'll got demolition for free!

btw his reference has no real meaning cause it's not "deserve" related... here many people maybe deserve that but it's just extraction of a paper slip... so people win just by luck... sometimes (say always) I don't understand him!

                  Kind regards,
                  Max

That's what i said; better to draw than to vote. Cose we have here few "clubs" and voting would not satisfy all. But draw will, cose everybody are awared that it is just pure luck. Fair enough. Just as Loto, Super 5 or some simillar draw game..

BTW i would be satisfied to win LRL (working) from Esteban or "beleivers" club!
What do i have to do to win? To deaspear for good...or what?!

What's that dot in the middle of the coil?
                        Is that the "secret" ingredient?
