I own a Gold Gun AL718. Couldn't get much out of it, and I've never heard of anyone else who has had success with one. Still, I'd like to get mine into an area where there's more natural gold, and see what it does. Based on what I know of Accurate Locators, I don't expect much of it.

Yeah, I need to dig this thing out and see what it does. Med, I'll try to get a photocopy of the manual made. You could probably get the correct (707) manual from Accurate Locators.

Default Strange Motives

Carl seems reluctant to say anything about Accurate Locators & even OKM ? Both outfits sell LRLs and questionable equipment. He even allows MINEORO dealers to endorse their products all over his forums. Not one single report on any of these three manufactures and Carl admits he has these locators ? Perhaps Mr. Carl Moreland is being paid by these manufactures? Always have wondered about his agenda???

The internal circuitry is coated with white paint, so there is nothing to see.

I'll open the gold gun I have and see if it has white paint. If not I will post some pictures. I don't remember if it has paint inside or not.

Guys I will look at it today. It appears to be in the AM range. I will post some pictures also. The only responce I ever saw was North south line detection. If I turned the unit pointing either to the north or south I get a drop in digital value. Someone sent it to me to play with. He just purchased a mineoro unit. I will have it soon to play with and test.

Ok I looked at the unit I have here and the model is the 718. The board did not have paint on it so I made a schematic on the board. I need to check it again. I did not get to open the antenna yet. I will out today but will post tonight. I will tell you this. There are 2 jfets, HA17324 and filters. Not much more than that.

Default Good Job Tim!

Tim,

Thank you for going to the trouble in what you produced. Very interesting. Makes me wonder if their detecting the VLF Radio Stations carriers. With enough limiting you can really dig carriers out of the noise with a good filter on the output to clean up the harmonics. I've had real good luck using them on my loop antennas for the 160-190 KC license free band.

Do you have an inductance meter so the resonant frequency can be found out? This is the key obviously to seeing what the designer had in mind, but I'm betting on VLF beacons like the WADI receivers.

What say ye Carl?

Randy
